Quick News on Foxy Brown, Mistah F.A.B. and Chamillionaire

According to Billboard.com, Foxy Brown will release her long awaited album, Black Roses, on September 6. The LP will not be released on Def Jam Records, instead, it will come out on Foxy’s new label, Black Roses. “This album is going to be a lyrical testimony to everything I’ve gone through and survived the last couple of years,” Foxy tells Billboard.com. “It’s just incredible.” While details about the album are still sketchy, Foxy says she wants to work with Jay-Z, Spragga Benz and Baby Cham. In order to hold fans over until Black Roses, the Brooklyn MC will also release a new untitled mixtape in June.
Bay Area MC, Mistah F.A.B., will debut at No. 177 on Billboard’s Top 200 Charts this week for his new album, Da Baydestrian. This is the first time an independent rapper from the Bay Area has cracked the Top 200 in over five years. The album also debuted as the No. 3 hip-hop album on iTunes, No. 7 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart and No. 17 on Billboard’s Rap Chart.
As previously reported on XXLMag.com, Houston’s Grammy award winning MC, Chamillionaire, joined with Energizer to find new, unsigned talent in the Energizer e2 Titanium Technology Freestylin’ Music Contest. The contest took place between March and April, in which aspiring artists uploaded a two-minute freestyle to Energizer’s MySpace page. Last week, the contest ended and the winner — San Francisco MC, C-Tru — was chosen by Chamillionaire. As the grand prize winner, C-Tru performed with King Koopa on Sunday, May 20 at DUB Magazine’s 2007 Custom Auto Show & Concert in Atlanta, GA. “Meeting Chamillionaire and spending time with an artist who’s out there telling the truth through music, just like I am, is an opportunity of a lifetime,” says C-Tru. “Energizer’s support and respect for the music scene made this happen. I’m truly grateful.”

Quick News on Snoop Dogg, Outkast and Lil Wyte

Snoop Dogg is set to appear on an upcoming episode of HBO’s hit series Entourage, he recently revealed to MTV News. The Doggfather says that while he’s a big fan of the show, he actually took the role with hopes of landing a part on one of HBO’s other big shows, The Wire. “They called me to be a part of [Entourage], I used that as leverage to try and be on The Wire,” Snoop told MTV. “”You know how I get down. I’m trying to get in the system.” The episode is scheduled to air in July.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Outkast’s Andre 3000 hinted at the possibility of another double disc Outkast LP like 2003’s Speakerboxx/The Love Below. The renowned lyricist stated that he and partner Big Boi are currently discussing the project, which is still in a planning stage. “Really, I gotta find out what I’m tryin’ to say,” he said. “It’s almost like a picnic — you call your auntie and say, ‘You bringin’ some greens? Yeah? OK, I’m not gonna bring any greens.’ I gotta find out what I gotta cook up. But to quote James Brown, ‘Whatever it is, it’s got to be funky.’”
Three 6 Mafia affiliate, Lil’ Wyte, will release his third solo album, The One and Only, on June 5 (Hypnotize Minds/Asylum Records). The album will be entirely produced by DJ Paul and Juicy J, and will feature the lead single, “I Got Dat Candy.” “I’ve always felt like I was a pretty complex rapper to be from the South — I feel like I put a lot into my music. This album, I went for more simplicity, but I still gave it my all,” Wyte says about The One and Only. “There’s so much music on the radio that’s just not doing it for me, and I know a million people like m that it ain’t doing it for them either. When Three 6 Mafia brings out a new CD, the person that’s on them beats rapping has damn near the control to create whatever the hell they want to create.”
The tracklisting for The One and Only is as follows.

Diddy Accused of Threatening Choreographer

Laurie Ann Gibson, a longtime choreographer for Sean “Diddy” Combs, has accused the mogul of picking up a chair and threatening to hit her with it during the filming of his popular reality show Making The Band. According to the New York Daily News, Gibson filed a complaint with the NYPD on May 11 outlining what she said happened during the incident. Gibson says Diddy and celebrity judge Michael Bivins got into an argument with her over an unsatisfactory performance by the latest group of the show’s contestants during filming at a New York Sports Club. The complaint alleges that the two men yelled and cursed at her and Bivins grabbed her while Combs picked up the chair and threatened her with it. Gibson says that she eventually broke free and left the set. Diddy’s attorney, Benjamin Brafman, has denied the allegations. While Gibson’s lawyer—Peter Toumbekis—stated that the investigation is ongoing, an NYPD spokesman told the News that detectives investigated the complaint and closed the case after finding no reason to proceed.
